Founder of Friends of Pets

Serena

I’m the founder and manager of Friends of Pets. My lifelong passion for animals inspired me to create a service where pets are cared for with the same love and attention they receive at home. I know how important it is to find someone trustworthy to care for your pets in your absence. That's why I want to tell you more about my experience!

Since childhood, I’ve had the joy of caring for a variety of pets, including dogs of all sizes, hamsters, cats, and my beloved African grey parrot, Arthur. Arthur has been part of my family for more than 20 years and, though he now lives in Italy with my family, he continues to be the most chatty and affectionate member of the household!

In addition to my personal experience, I’ve also worked in a pet shop where I gained hands-on knowledge in caring for a wide range of animals, including fish, birds, reptiles (yes, even snakes!), rodents, and other small animals. My dedication to providing excellent pet care led me to earn a CPD-certified Pet Sitting and Dog Walking diploma, ensuring that your pets are in safe and capable hands.

Since 2021, I’ve been offering pet-sitting services in Cambridge as I understand the peace of mind that comes from knowing your pets are receiving the best care while you're away. While I’ve now stepped back from doing visits myself, I manage a dedicated team of experienced dog walkers and pet sitters who share my values of kindness, reliability, and exceptional care. I focus on overseeing operations, supporting clients and sitters, and ensuring your pets continue to receive the very best care from a team you can trust.

Freya

Hi! My name is Freya, and I have had a passion for animals ever since I can remember.

I grew up in the south-west surrounded by dog walks on the beach, long walks along the coast path, and my grandmother who was an avid dog trainer. I have 3 years of dog walking experience back home, with dogs of all shapes and sizes, and I am so excited to be continuing my journey in Longstanton! I am always keen to foster an individual and personalised environment in my dog walks, and strive for each dog to get the most out of each experience.

I know how important socialisation is for our beloved pets, and how much comfort having a pet-sitter can bring them. Previously, I've worked with a local shelter fostering under-socialised cats, giving them the love and support they need to thrive in their forever homes. Recently, my partner and I have adopted two cats of our own (Leo and Luna) whom we adore.

Outside of my love for animals I love being active, whether that's training at the gym, or running in the bug hunter waters weekly park run. I am fully insured for dog walks, pet sitting and overnight/extended pet sitting stays.

Harriette

I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Friends of Pets. As a lifelong animal lover, I bring many
years of experience raising, training, and caring for my own dogs, as well as those of friends and family.

I’ve worked with a wide variety of breeds and understand just how unique eachdog can be, always tailoring my  approach to meet their individual needs. I also share my lifewith a beautiful Labrador  named Loki, and I have hands-on experience caring for rabbits, giving me an even broader understanding of animal care.

I have the utmost respect for animals and believe they deserve rich, fulfilling, and exciting lives, just like we do. When a dog is in my care, their happiness and wellbeing will always come first. To me, a dog is not an accessory, but a true companion deserving of love, patience, and understanding.

My background in holistic therapy has deepened my empathy not only for animals, but for their people as well. I appreciate the special bond between dogs and their owners, and I will always treat every dog as if they were my own.

Pet sitter and Dog walker (Cambourne)

Samantha

Hi, I am Samantha, I’m passionate about caring for pets and I would love to do this on a full-time basis because it’s truly what I love doing.

I have experience as a pet sitter and dog walker, having cared for friends’ dogs (including overnight stays), and many of them have kindly recommended me to their friends as well.

When I’m house-sitting, I always make sure the pets in my care are happy, comfortable, and well looked after, and I leave the home clean and tidy as I found it.

I take the time to understand each animal’s unique personality and adjust my approach to meet their specific needs and routines. I’ve also completed a course in Horse Care, which has strengthened my understanding of animal welfare and behaviour.
